MYCONSTI LAUNCH!

Whaddup guys! On the 16th of November (TUESDAY) we will be having the MYCONSTI Launch. Now there are two parts to this event so take notice!

The first part is the actual launching which will be from 8.30-11.ooam at LH1. We need everyone - I repeat, EVERYONE - to turn up! So be at LH1 on time! Trust us, this is definitely worth your time so.. show up people!

The second part is actually a workshop conducted by the guys from MYCONSTI. Now, only 50 students are allowed to participate in this workshop - that's right - only 50. So what makes this workshop so special? Basically it is called Reconstituting Earth v.2.0 (cool name, eh?) and it is designed to teach students what fundamental rights are, how they work as well as how to draft a constitution. Now THAT is really interesting!

If you guys are interested, please submit your name, contact number and IC number as soon as you can! Remember, only the first 50 gets in!

Mark down 16th Nov, Tuesday! Cheers guys!

Whats Cooking?!

On the 19th of August, the KDU Law Society decided to hold a bake sale to raise funds for the society. Our faithful and talented baker for the day was Ms Lok Jay Dee. Every single muffins and brownies were baked to perfection with love and dedication as Jay Dee fell sick the day right before the sales but that did not deter her from carrying out her role.
We had muffins ranging from vanilla and oatmeal to chocolate while the brownies were pure natural sinful chocolate. The tasted so good the committees couldnt resist but buy a couple for ourselves before they were sold out.

The event was a success as we managed to sell over 100 muffins and all the brownies. As our baker was not in her best form, we had to hold another sale the following week and that turned out a success as we sold everything yet again.
For all those who have been supporting all our fund raisers, we would like to say a big Thank You and do continue to support us in the future should we have another fund raiser!

Last but not least, we present to you our one and only ever-so-sexy Law Society President.

T.H.A.N.K. Y.O.U!

Managing Expectation: KLBYLC

On a beautiful Saturday morning, is the time where most people would imagine themselves tugged in bed and covered in blankets. One must admit that it is an ideal way to spend Saturday mornings. The morning of 26th June 2010 which falls on a Saturday is however not the case for some of the law students at the KDU P.J Section 13.

This is because a pack of young lawyers had made their way to the campus to have a brief talk or discussion among the students. A fair enough number of students had showed up for this considering it was a Saturday morning. The reason behind this event is supposedly to give the students some ideas of what exactly are students getting themselves into when they decide to take up law. Questions on career opportunities and the scope of the job as a lawyer were things that were tackled during this meeting of the students with the lawyers.

Most of the students had probably the same thing in mind when they imagined what it was going to be like once this talk began. The usual one or two speakers talking while everybody kept down quietly listening till Q and A arrives, with one or two questions to be answered before calling it a day. Surprisingly this was not the case. For one thing the event was far from boring. This is perhaps how they had structured it for the students. The students were first split into 5 groups which consisted around 7-10 students per group. Each group was assigned with 2-3 lawyers later on to have a 2 hours discussion on the questions that are still in the mist of law students when it comes to legal careers. Once the 2 hours have ended each group will elect a leader to go up and speak on behalf of the group on whether or not this had been of any help at all.

The thing that made this event not boring was perhaps that the students actually got to know the people that came to talk to them as the discussion was not diluted by a huge number of students. This had given them not only the chance to get useful information from these lawyers but to truly make friends with lawyers who have just kicked start their careers. Some students had even managed to shake off that image of law firms being run by the Devil once things were made clearer by these lawyers.

To sum up this all up is perhaps that it was a rather successful event where by the looks of it a lot of the students had fun while learning something new and perhaps managed to do some networking as well. The students that had participated for this event should give themselves a round of applause for their contribution. In the near future let’s hope that more events such as this would come around.
